Amanda Ward Thomas completed a BA (hons) degree in fine art at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2007. A keen huntswoman herself, she has achieved success in bringing a subject, considered in cultural artisitic circles as antediluvian and distinctly doltish, into the 21st century with her unique language of portraying the mobility of her subjects.
The recent ban on hunting has been met with much consternation from the rural community throughout the country. With hunting being a tradition of centuries, Amanda has aimed her art as a persuasive medium to conserve this tradition for generations to come.
Amanda held her first solo exhibition Christmas 2006. Here she exhibited a collection of Oils on canvas and charcoals. Her use of colour and unique applicaton of paint received much acclaim with her ability to paint animals with elaborate energy. |
