Christine Seifert's work is as interesting
and diverse as her life. She was born in Bamberg in 1954 and the
family moved to a coffee farm on the slopes of Mt. Kilmanjaro near
Moshi, Tanzani, in 1957. Her school days at Loreto Convent M'songari,
Nairobi, came to an end in 1973. Simultaneously the farm was nationalised,
urging the family to return to Germany.
After having resided in South Africa, southern
Germany, Switzerland and southern Spain, Christine settled back
in Germany in 1992. She has never forgotten the 'Africa' surrounding
her youth. In recent years she has made several trips back to Africa
and while on safari, she has filled numerous sketchbooks with her
impressions of that wonderful and exciting diverse part of Africa:
Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Selous Game Reserve,
Mt. Meru and Zanaibar. These profound observations have given way
to paintings and screens in oil, watercolour and ink. Her watercolour
and ink and oil paintings are usually laid on to linen canvas which
lends a very unique and special feeling to her paintings. |
