Joe Hargan (DA, PPAI, PAI) was born Glasgow, studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1970-74 under Danny Ferguson (RSW, RGI), James Robertson (RSW, RGI, RSA) and the late Dr David Donaldson (RSA, RP, LLD, D.Litt, Queens Limner)
He is a founder member of Group 81 and was the Chairman between 1981-1991. He was also the President of the Paisley Art Institute from 1989-2000.
He has work in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, USA, Canada, Brazil, and New Zealand.
Recently completed two portraits, one of the Chancellor and the other the Principal Of Paisley University and currently on exhibition in Scotland (Glasgow and Edinburgh), England (London), France (Cannes) and USA
