Oliver Ellwood has painted portraits on commission for many years combining this with his career as an Army Officer. He has also exhibited at the Society of Equestrian Artists and in the West Country. Coming from a farming and horse-racing background, many of his subjects reflect rural life in his home county of Somerset . A recent posting as a Peace Keeper to Sierra Leone has given him the opportunity to work in the very different environment and light of West Africa .
