Claire Philipps, part of an artistic dynasty which includes her mother, sister and father and a grandparent on either side, was brought up in Wiltshire and Pembrokeshire. Her passion for the countryside is evident in all her paintings. She captures colour and mod brilliantly and possesses a true understanding of light which gives her watercolours a unique quality.

After four years working in London she began to concentrate on her painting on a more full time basis. In between commissions she took parties all over the world as a guide for Serenissima Travel. Every second of spare time was devoted to painting - the Nile, Prague, The Danube and India are just a few of the places which feature in her sketch-books. On returning from her last trip, in 1991, she had her first solo exhibition in London, including many of the paintings from these expeditions. She has since had two more solo exhibitions in 1992 and 1994, both of which were sold out.

Claire has exhibited with Cricket Fine Art for many years and is planning an exhibition with her mother, Susie Philipps, at the Thirteen Langton Street Gallery in 2008.
