Alejandra Echenique

BORN: 1969

Alejandra Echenique, was born in 1969 in Cambridge, England. She studied oil painting at Camden School of Art(1991-1992) and Heatherley’s School of Art (1995-1996) in London. Alejandra has lived in Rabat/Morocco, Rome and Paris where she travelled and gathered inspiration for her paintings. In Morocco she was inspired by the contrasting light and colour – in particular how light falls on building walls and on people. One of her paintings of Morocco ‘Casbah Street’ was chosen by UNICEF to be part of its greeting card collection and was sold internationally.

Her fascination with light and colour is also depicted in her paintings of rivers (particularly the Tiber and Seine), reflections in water and roof tops. Some of her most striking studies of light and colour are her landscapes of Tuscany and Provence.
