Dennis Page

BORN: 1930

Born in 1930, Dennis Page studied art at Harrow and the Central School of Arts and Crafts, where his tutors included Ruskin Spear and Mervyn Peake. After National Service as a pilot he went into advertising as an art director/copy-writer. For twenty years he was Creative Director on Esso creating the prize-winning Esso Tiger campaigns that ran worldwide.

He is best known for his architectural and figurative watercolours where spontaneity, freshness and a sense of place are paramount. His humorous drawings in pen and sepia wash illustrate the pomposity and foibles of the human condition.

Dennis exhibits widely and shows regularly at the annual Venice in Peril exhibitions. In 2005 he illustrated a book entitled Winchester – An Illustrated Stroll through City and College which includes 80 of his watercolours.
