Jo Brown was born in Kent in 1945, moving north to study at Bretton Hall College. After teaching in West Yorkshire, and graduating in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University in 1995, she has been working and exhibiting widely from her studio at Dean Clough.
Using colour, layers and gestural marks, through free intuitive and improvisatory qualities, her work expresses memories, moods and a sense of place.
Her work is in many collections, including Huddersfield, Rotherham, Wakefield, Calderdale, Bradford, Carey Jones Architects, Deutsche Bank, Whitfield Fine Art London.
