Ilaria’s work is based on direct observation and rooted in the tradition of the old masters.

She comes from a family of Florentine Renaissance painters, and she strives to retain, in her work, the balanced elegance of her ancestors’ frescos.
Born and trained in Italy, she has been living, studying and painting in London since 1999.

“Being used to the strong tonal contrast of Mediterranean sun I find the shadowless and diffused London light a perfect environment to develop colours and subtle hue variations.”

Ilaria’s favourite genres are portraits and still life paintings. Her work has been shown in Milan, Rome and Palermo, and has been selected for the BP Portrait Award, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and Lynn Painters-Stainers Prize.
