Shirin Tabeshfar Houston

BORN: 1958

Shirin was born in Persia one of six children from a well established family. She had an inbuilt drive and determination to study art from an early age and studied Fine art in Persia for three years and then despite language difficulties at the age of 18 came to the United Kingdom to continue her artistic studies as a graphic designer.

She established her career as a graphic designer and illustrator but her passion was always painting and photography and during her career as a designer she also had several painting exhibitions in London at the Lyric in Hammersmith, Tabernacle in Portabello Road and the Kufa art gallery in Westbourne Grove and Acava studios in Fulham, whilst at the same time having a full family life with her husband Frank, twin daughters and a son.

During the last 10 years she decided that graphic design was no longer the career path she wanted to pursue and turned her attentions to painting full time. This decision to follow her passion and pursue a career had led to enormous success with a solo exhibition of her paintings in 2009 and now exhibits her work at Cricket Fine Art in Chelsea.

Shirin has a love for human form. Her attention is not to detail but to a sensual feeling within the form and her intention is to create an art form which is inspired by mystical Persian poetry, and are often eloquent reflections on the human form and spiritual condition.
