Living in West Sussex with her partner, their two boys and a Bedlington Whippet (Arlo), sculptor Gemma Rees specialises in textured ‘hairy’ animal sculptures. Lurchers are of particular interest to her, along with all scruffy dog types. Each animal takes a fortnight or more to produce – using materials such as fibres, resin, wire and clay the sculptures are animated and illustrative in equal measure. Gemma holds a BA in Art & Design from Birmingham University and an MA in illustration from Brighton University.
