This recent series of paintings marks a change of direction for me, focusing almost entirely on colour and texture. There are multiple layers of contrasting tones – one behind the other – which appear to modulate, sometimes flickering mysteriously in the light or intensifying in the shadows. There is no single sensation in viewing these works but many subtle variations that invite the viewer to get close up. I hope you can see them in person.
