INTRODUCING A NEW GALLERY ARTIST
IAIN NUTTING
After graduating from Saint Martin's School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Sculpture (1981-1983) Iain Nutting used his carving, welding and casting skills to secure a position as a conservation technician at the Tate Gallery after which, during the 1990s, he became an assistant to sculptor Antony Gormley. Throughout his life, Nutting has strived to combine his concern for the environment with his practice as a sculptor – often choosing endangered species as his subject. His work is most often constructed from reclaimed steel, and each sculpture is unique.
