Robert James Clarke: The Hair of The Dog

15 - 26 September 2015

Robert James Clarke studied at the St Martin’s School of Art in London and has had huge success both here in the U.K. and New York where he currently lives.

We are delighted to be holding a second one man exhibition in which we are showing Clarke’s new work on wood panels. These hark back to the days of mark making and daubes. On these panels he has a more linear approach with swathes of paint strewn onto the flat surface, making for quicker and looser paintings.

Clarke says “I had become a dog painter, not a painter of dogs. I am an artist first and these works try to show the paint as much as the subject matter.”
