I am primarily inspired by the open landscape and love working directly from
it: I record the changing elements, textures and essence of my surroundings
with subtle colour combinations, mark making and layering of textures.
In my studio, I work on series of paintings. I search to find a balance
between the subject and the abstract, starting in a spontaneous way, I paint
loose marks and shapes as I enjoy the various qualities of the paint. This
personal intuitive process, in itself, inspires me.
I then look to balance this spontaneity with a considered thought process to
create evocative paintings that go beyond obvious observation.
My paintings are personal journeys, but I hope all viewers will find them
uplifting, enjoy a sense of space and as they move closer find further interest
and intrigue.
